Black Label Society - In This River
This song was really composed months prior to Dimebag Darrell’s death.
It was not until after he was gone that Zakk Wylde realised this song summed up the emotion circling Dime’s death. Zakk then dedicated the song to Dime and made the video after that.
It is now played on every Black Label Society set, as a dedication to Dime!
Zakk Wylde composed and produced this song on his own. The vocals, piano and guitar solo were his, the only help being backing up vocals from Ozzy Osbourne.
A crazed fan named Nathan Gale jumped on stage and shot Dimebag Darrell’ Abbott when he was performing with his band DamagePlan. Nathan Gale killed 3 more people before he was killed by a police officer.
Zakk Wylde - " He was beyond beautiful. When he'd walk in the room, he'd light it up. Fuck the guitar playing - he's right up there with Eddie and Randy and Hendrix. All he wanted to do was make everyone happy. He was the ray of sunshine. Dime will never die ever -- he's in my veins. He's sitting at God's tavern, having a cold one with Randy Rhoads and Hendrix. Dime was an original. "
